The Legend of the Green Pearl of Seki

In the deep valleys near Seki, the historic city of Japanese master bladesmiths, old masters share a legend that dates back to the 17th century.

It is said that in the heart of the forest, hidden within the roots of an ancient maple tree, lay a "Green Pearl"—a stone so pure and radiant that it absorbed the moonlight and reflected it in a thousand emerald shades. According to lore, it was this pearl that inspired the legendary blacksmith Jiro to create a knife that possessed not only the hardness of the iron of Seki but the very soul of the forest.

Jiro spent years searching for the perfect balance between the hard steel and the gentle grace of the woods. He folded the steel 67 times—once for every year he believed the old maple tree had stood in the forest—until the blade captured the wavy texture of a flowing mountain stream. For the handle, he used pieces of that same maple tree, infused with resin that, according to the legend, had taken on the color of the Green Pearl.

Today, every JI Gurīnpāru knife is forged with that same philosophy in mind: it is not merely a tool, but a piece of the forest and history in your hand, ready to transform every ingredient with the precision of a sword and the grace of a gemstone.

Technical Specifications

 Core Material:

High-grade Japanese VG10 stainless steel. This "super steel" is renowned for its exceptional hardness (approx. 60-62 HRC), ensuring a razor-sharp edge that lasts.

Construction: The blade consists of 67 layers of Damascus steel. The VG10 core is protected by 66 layers of softer stainless steel, forged into a stunning wavy pattern. This provides both flexibility and unparalleled visual depth.
